the mauveHAUS terms
This isn't a company and you're not a customer. mauveHAUS is a small pile of self-hosted services run by one person for a community of friends. These terms exist so we both know where we stand - written in plain language, because legalese is just another middleman.
what this is
Everything here runs on personal hardware, personal bandwidth, and spare time. It's offered as-is and as-available, for free, with no promise that any service will be up, fast, or around forever. Sometimes things break. Sometimes things get retired. That's the deal with running your own corner of the internet instead of renting someone else's.
using an account
Some services are open to anyone, some are invite-only. If you have an account, you're responsible for what you do with it and for keeping your own login safe. Don't share credentials, don't hand your account to a bot, don't use it to make life harder for the rest of us.
the rules still apply
The house rules and the code of conduct are part of these terms. Short version: don't be a dick, don't bring the cops to the door, don't be a leech. If you break them, your access can go away - usually after a heads-up, immediately if it's serious.
your content is yours
What you post here belongs to you. Hosting it doesn't transfer ownership to me - I only store and serve it so the services work and so it can federate out to the wider fediverse when that's the point of the app. You keep the right to your own words, images, and code.
Because a lot of this is federated, keep in mind that anything you publish publicly can travel to other servers I don't control. Once it's out there, it's genuinely out there. Think before you post.
leaving
You can walk away whenever you like. Ask and your account and its data get deleted - see the privacy policy for what that means and its limits, especially for anything that's already federated elsewhere. No exit interview, no dark patterns, no "are you sure" maze.
no warranty, no liability
This is a hobby project offered in good faith. There's no warranty of any kind, and I'm not liable for lost data, downtime, or anything that goes sideways from using these services. Keep your own backups of anything you'd be sad to lose.
changes
These terms can change as the services do. If something meaningful changes I'll do my best to say so. Continuing to use the services after that means you're good with the update.
